The rain fell in silver sheets against the windowpane, blurring the world beyond our private sanctuary. Her nervous fingers traced the condensation on the cool glass before I gently turned her to face me. A single, warm tear escaped her eye, which I caught with the pad of my thumb, feeling the tremor that ran through her. My hands settled on the gentle curve of her waist, a silent question in the stillness between our ragged breaths. She answered by melting into my chest, her forehead resting against mine as a soft sigh escaped her lips. The scent of her perfume, jasmine and rain, filled the air around us, an intoxicating promise. I could feel the frantic rhythm of her heart beating in time with my own, a wild drumming of long-suppressed desire. Her hands slid up my arms, her touch both hesitant and hungry, mapping the landscape of my shoulders. In that suspended moment, every glance was a confession and every whisper of contact a vow. The world outside ceased to exist as we surrendered to the quiet storm we had created, two souls finally, completely, unafraid.
